Mrs. Janssen's fourth grade class found a way to brighten up this gloomy day!! In today's art class, students learned the three primary colors and how to create their own secondary and tertiary colors.

We want the PTO Sweet Harvest Popcorn Fundraiser to be as successful as possible!
The PTO decided, what better way to promote selling popcorn than to actually give some away to sample! We are adding a popping end to today/. Please enjoy a sample of the popcorn that your child is selling for this fundraiser. It is absolutely delicious and hits the spot for an after school snack! They can grab a snack bag (while supplies last) from our PTO cart after school is dismissed today, Wednesday, January 22 at 2:15. The cart will be at the front of the building.

We are excited to sell delicious popcorn & raise money for our PTO so we can do awesome things, such as go on field trips, sponsor fun events, and raise money for a musical playground!

We will be visiting our last classroom teacher, Mrs. Janssen! Mrs. Janssen and her class of fourth graders will be quite excited to share with us all of the amazing things they will learn this week.

The fourth grade students in Mr. Bates' class are studying geology in their language arts reading books. This chapter, they are learning about rock formations and how different types of mountains are formed.

On today's episode of Eyewitness Emerson...
Mr. Bates, and his class of fourth graders, learned how different structural shapes could withstand different pressures. Students were given spaghetti and marshmallows and told to build three three-dimensional shapes (triangle, square and rectangle). They then put those structures through a series of tests to see which structure was the strongest.

We find Mr. Bates' fourth grade students on a 'dangerous adventure' involving alligators! Alligator angles that is. Students were able to practice differentiating obtuse, acute, and right angles in a fun game like way. The first partner to roll the dice and connect fifteen angles on their game board won!

Students in Mrs. Schuessler's class wasted no "time" getting back in the swing of things! This week students practiced telling time, and writing the time in correct format.

Students in Mrs. Schuessler's third grade class took time to do some self-evaluating. Her students had earlier taken a math quiz. The quiz was then graded and handed back to each student. Students were then able to self-reflect on whether they mastered each concept, or still needed to grow in their learning.

Recently at Emerson Elementary, 4th grade students experienced the unit "Eureka! Student Inventor." They studied famous inventors and the skills inventors need in order to be successful. They then became inventors themselves!
The CHS Cheerleaders surprised Emerson today! They helped the students clean their chair pockets, get new crayons, and passed out presents from Ms. Mohr. The 'Elves', as the kids called the cheerleaders, then got to sit down and color pictures together. What a great surprise for Ms. Mohr's kindergarteners!

12/19/24 - No Preschool, 12:00 pm (noon dismissal) K-12.
12/20/24- Holiday break begins. No school for preK-12.
1/7/25- First day of 3rd quarter or 2nd semester.

We find Mrs. Mulder's class of third graders gobbling up knowledge! Actually, they are enjoying today's healthy fresh fruit & veggie snack: PINEAPPLE!!! On most days of the week, the school provides, as an option, either a fresh fruit or a vegetable snack to each student. Schools are able to do this based on a grant provided by the state.
Eyewitness Emerson will be off-air until after break. We hope you all enjoy your much deserved break, and we'll be back in the new year, 2025!!

We find Mrs. Mulder's third grade students asking "Can You Hear Me Now?!" as they learn about Alexander Graham Bell. Working in pairs, students read a story about Bell's life and all of his inventions. They then together worked on a comprehension worksheet.

Mrs. Mulder and her class of third graders are getting prepared; prepared for weather safety! Each student was asked to design and create and image and a slogan to promote weather safety. Some students chose tornado safety, others chose flood safety, and more chose thunderstorm safety. These creations will be sent in to the state for a chance to be featured in a weather safety calendar. We wish them all good luck!
