We will be featuring everyone's favorite special, Physical Education! Mr. Kucera has a great relationship with each student in the building, and they all look forward to being in his class each and every day.

Concluding this week's episode of Eyewitness Emerson...
We find Mrs. Dobbs, and a group of kindergarteners, learning about jobs during colonial times. Today, the students learned about blacksmiths. They were able to watch a short video about how a blacksmith makes nails, horse shoes, and other items out of iron. At the end of the lesson, students were able to design their own blacksmith shop sign!

On this episode of Eyewitness Emerson...
We find Mrs. Dobbs, Ms. G. and a group of first graders learning how to 'so.' Today's word of the day was 'so.' The students also finished watching the story Jack and the Beanstalk. They then, together as a class, completed a worksheet sequencing the order of events in relation to the story.

On today's episode of Eyewitness Emerson...
We find Mrs. Dobbs and her small group of children practicing the words 'see,' 'it' and 'too.' They each practiced locating a word on the word wall. Then they practiced using those 'words of the week' in sentences. Finally, they put it all together reading a book about seeing animals in the wild.

We will feature the beloved teacher, Mrs. Dobbs! Mrs. Dobbs is currently the longest employed CPS staff member we have here at Emerson. We will all be sad to see her go when she retires at the end of this school year🥺

On this episode of Eyewitness Emerson...
We find Mr. Anderson and the kindergarten, first, and second graders hard at work in the music studio! For the past several weeks, these students have been busy learning the lyrics to their spring concert songs. This concert will be held on April 15th. We hope to see you there!

On today's episode of Eyewitness Emerson...
We find Mr. Anderson and the third and fourth graders learning about a composer of the month. This month, students are learning about Stevie Nicks. Throughout the month, our students will be able to learn the type of music she played, what kind of music she writes, and will be able to listen to some of her records.







On this week's episode of Eyewitness Emerson...
We will be visiting with the multi-musically talented Mr. Anderson and Ms. Hirschman! We here at Emerson are lucky enough to not only have one music teacher, but TWO music teachers.

The finale of Read Across America: role reversal day!!! Students had fun dressing as their favorite teachers, and teachers had fun reliving their childhoods and dressing like students. Thank you to all those who participated in this fun week. Enjoy your Spring Break!

MARCH 4, 2025 CANCELLATIONS
CPS Buildings have determined that the after school program, practices and all evening events will be cancelled tonight. Kindergarten enrollment will continue until 6pm. Please direct any questions to your student's school building.

We certainly have some "super" students here at Emerson!

Today, in celebration of Read Across America Week, students and staff celebrated by dressing up as wizards and witches! Tomorrow, we encourage everyone to dress as superheroes!


Next week, Emerson Elementary will be celebrating Read Across America Week! We encourage our student and staff to participate in these fun "themed" dress-up days. Each daily theme is based on one of this year's Golden Sower Nominees. The dress-up themes are as follows: Monday- Witches and Wizards Day, Tuesday- Superhero Day, Wednesday- Safety Equipment Day, Thursday- Role Reversal Day, and Friday- NO SCHOOL!
Please remember if you are participating in these dress-up days all items and outfits need to be school appropriate. Also, we will have P.E., and most likely outside recess, so please make sure you dress accordingly.
Pictures will be posted throughout the week featuring the day's "best dressed."

We will be diving into the very complex work of Ms. Jaixen and Ms. Vering. Both of these teachers have the very important job of supporting Emerson students in multiple facets on a daily basis.

Although the weather outside was frightful, the sounds of excited children at the book fair were so delightful❤️! Thank you to all of those who supported our book fair! We didn't quite make our goal this year, but it will give us something to work toward next year😊

All CPS buildings will close at 5:00pm today, 2/18/25. No evening activities will take place including middle school parent-teacher conferences.


IT'S HAPPENING! Kindergarten Registration is scheduled for Monday, March 3rd through Friday, March 7th at the Kramer Education Center --> 2410 16th St. Please enter through the west doors. Each day is open to parents/guardians with students attending any of our elementaries!
