On today's episode of Eyewitness Emerson...
Mrs. Loosvelt's second grade class has been learning about Greek Mythology. They've studied things such as gods and goddesses, Mount Olympus and the Underworld, and even the myths of how things came to be. So in today's lesson, it was the students' turn to write their own myth of how something in the world came to be.

Emerson students were visited by some special guests in these past two weeks. Last Friday, we celebrated "High Five Friday" by inviting the CCC boys Basketball team to get our students pumped for a day of learning. Also, yesterday, the CHS musical cast brought a shortened version of their show for our students to watch. Our students love when we have "special guests" in the building!

Ms. Lyon's first grade class learned about fables. They learned "the grass isn't always greener on the other side," and to "be happy with what you have."
Ms. Lyon read the story of The Two Dogs to her students, and then the students took turns reading the stories to their partner.

Students in third grade were able to spend time with some special Grandfriends today. Grandfriends and students were able to visit their classroom, spend some time together, and make a pumpkin craft. After lunch, students and Grandfriends were able to take advantage of this photo opp set up in Emerson's lunchroom/gym.

We find Ms. Hoffman, and her first grade students, hard at work during a math lesson learning about mountains! Math mountains, that is, and how they can help solve equations. In today's lesson, students were given story problems and were asked to write and solve equations. As you can see, some students enjoyed this lesson more than others.
