✨Staff Spotlight✨
Please welcome Ms. Danielle Pasonault! Our new nurse is an Aerosmith lover who loves anything with pesto. Ms. Pasonault has been working hard with her new best friend Nurse Kruse. She has her associate’s degree in nursing from CCC. Ms. Pasonault decided to work at CMS because she used to work with elderly and wanted to try something new. 1 MORE ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR Ms. Danielle Pasonault! 🙌
They gave it their all while competing at the Norfolk meet on Friday. We’re so proud of their effort, teamwork, and Discoverer spirit!
👏 Special shoutouts to our top finishers:
🥇 Oscar – 1st place
🏅 Carter – 6th place
🏆 Ava – 10th place
Way to go, Discoverers! 🌟

Unfortunately, our 8th-grade football team lost against Fremont. 🏈 Our team demonstrated incredible heart and resilience from start to finish, putting up a fight against the other team. 💪 The effort, hustle, and sportsmanship displayed are things to be proud of. 👏 This game is only one step in the journey toward growth for our team. 🌟 They have our unwavering support and our CMS student section behind them, cheering them on every game while also supporting our CHS football team and cheering them on to a victory against Fremont Friday night!!
Meet Ms. Bell! She teaches speech/language! When not teaching at CMS, she works at Wiggles and Giggles. She attended UNL and UNK, and got her degree in communication sciences and disorders. If opening her own restaurant, her signature dish would be a turkey sandwich and a pickle. The weirdest thing she has eaten was a cow’s tongue. She is most excited to teach ACC. Growing up, her favorite teacher was Mrs. Scoville! We are so glad to have her at CMS!

On Thursday, the Discoverers 8th-grade teams put up a good fight against the Grand Island Cougars. Teams A and B fought hard but ultimately came up short in their tough matchups. Meanwhile, the C team brought a victory to their home court! Losses are tough, but they’re also a chance to learn and come back stronger. We’re proud of all our athletes and look forward to the next set of matches!

Meet Ms. Jenner! She has been a great addition to the 7th grade Language Arts department. Ms. Jenner went to Liberty University in Virginia and got her Secondary Language Arts degree. She first taught at North Bend but is now at CMS. Ms. Jenner came to CMS because she wanted to go to a different school than her kids and wanted a bigger school. Ms. Jenner chose teaching because she had a high school teacher who made a huge impact on her life and wanted to do that for others! Ms. Jenner enjoys watching her boys’ sports after school. As a child, Ms. Jenner LOVED Cosmic Brownies. We are glad Ms. Jenner chose CMS and joined our community. We are so excited for the year that we get to spend with Ms. Jenner!
Today, our CMS Drumline performed for the students at Emerson. Our Drumline members have been practicing since the second week of school to learn cadences for performances at different schools. This was their first performance of the year, and there are many more to come!

Welcome Ms. Kapels! Our new speech and language teacher is an amazing person that is willing to give a helping hand when needed. Ms. Kapels went to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and got a master's degree in speech-language. She has recently graduated from college with this being her first teaching job. The hardest part for her starting at a new school is trying to figure her way around the large building. When students walk into her class, she wants them to feel like it's the best part of their day. If Ms. Kapels had won a million dollars, she would donate it to church and give the rest to friends and family. Finally, if she could be any animal, and why, she would be a dog because a dog is everyone's best friend.
The phone issues from earlier this morning have been resolved. CPS buildings can now accept inbound calls as well as send outbound calls. Thank you for your patience while our staff worked diligently to resolve the issues. If you have any questions please contact your child's school building.

ALO gives our 5th and 6th graders some time to relax, socialize, and play. Yesterday, our 6th-grade students had a blast getting creative with Play-Doh while chatting and spending time together. 💬🎨

Currently the district is experiencing both inbound and outbound phone issues. Staff are working with the company to resolve the issues. To contact your school please use Remind or email to communicate with your teacher or email your school secretary. We will communicate again when the problem has been resolved.

Yesterday evening, the 7th-grade Discoverers volleyball teams took on the Norfolk Panthers. A, B, and C all played their hardest on home court. Unfortunately, all teams ended up falling short in their sets, but our girls powered through and continued to cheer each other on, displaying the true Discoverer way. We couldn’t be prouder of our 7th-grade volleyball players. Keep it up! 🏐✨
