After investigating the properties of matter in our water samples last week, our 5th graders took on a new engineering challenge: design a water filter that could remove the unwanted materials and make the water cleaner and healthier.

Each team created a unique design, using what they learned to tackle the “troubling matter” in their samples. The creativity and problem-solving on display were incredible!

This week, students will be testing, analyzing, and improving their filter designs as they continue working toward cleaner water for all living things. 🌎✨

What a night for the 7th grade girls’ basketball teams!
Even though the final scores didn’t go our way, we couldn’t be prouder of how hard each and every girl played. They showed their hard work and preparation on the court. Keep your heads up, ladies! Go Discoverers!

💧In 5th grade science, students are exploring the question: “How can we make water healthy for all living things?” 🌎

Their first investigation involves identifying the properties of five different water samples. Students are using their observation skills to examine each sample’s color, odor, cloudiness, and even magnetism as they work to determine what substances might be in the water. 🔬💦

🔍🕵️‍♀️ Students in Ms. Schoenberner's Discovery class just wrapped up their unit on ciphers and codes! To put their decoding skills to the test, they ended the unit with an exciting scavenger hunt — where each team had to decipher the other team’s clues to find their next destination. So much fun putting their critical thinking and problem-solving skills into action! 💡✨

📐✨Mr. Ostrander’s 8th grade math students are getting creative with tile pattern posters!

Students are given a tile pattern and challenged to extend it by drawing additional figures based on the pattern. Then, they take it a step further by creating a table, graph, and rule to represent their pattern mathematically.

Once all the math pieces are complete, they get to show off their artistic side and decorate their posters however they’d like! 🎨📊
