Afterschool Program
Thank you to the CPS Administration once again for the opportunity to have college students substitute at CMS. This has been a very positive experience for the CMS staff, students as well as the college students. This has been especially helpful since there is a substitute teacher shortage. College Teacher Substitute - Hannah Haynes has been subbing at CMS, CHS and CPS Elementary schools. Hannah will be a senior at the University of Kearney majoring in Elementary Education with an endorsement in English as a Second Language and a minor in Spanish. This fall she will be a senior at UNK. - Madison Kerkman has been a Teacher Substitute for the 5th and 6th grades at CMS during the month of May. She has also been a Paraeducator Substitute at CMS and other CPS Elementary schools. She is majoring in Elementary and Special Education at the University of South Dakota and will start her student teaching in the fall of 2022. - Tristan Colford will be a Junior at UNK and is majoring in Pre-Med. Tristan has been a Teacher Substitute at CMS as well as CHS and CPS Elementary schools.

College Paraeducator Substitutes - - Colby Gilson has been with CMS for the entire month of May as a Paraeducator Substitute in the Grade 5 and 6 areas. Colby will graduate from Iowa Western after a summer class and will then continue his teaching degree at UNO starting in August. - Gracie Luebbe is going to be a Sophmore at UNK and is a Reading Paraeducator Substitute at CMS. - Emily Hall is studying Biology at UNK and will be a Sophmore. She is a Pareducator Substitute in the EL area. - Aspen Luebbe has been a Teacher Substitute in the High Learners area and she has also been a Reading Paraeducator Substitute. Aspyn is studying Physical Therapy at UNK and will be a Junior.

Band nights will be held this week on Tuesday (Apr 27) and Thursday (Apr 29) evenings from 5:30-7:30 in the CMS cafeteria. These evenings are set aside for any 5th or 6th grade student who is interested in beginning band next school year. Students will have the opportunity to try out the instruments and parents can get information about signing up for band. You can attend either night at any time during open hours.

1, 2, 3, 4... We declare a PENNY WAR! Today was day one of the CMS STUCO Penny War. Standings are as follows: First place - 6th Grade with 1585 points Second place - 5th Grade with 304 points Third place - 8th Grade with -833 points Fourth place - 7th grade with -990 points We will be collecting again before School on Wednesday, March 31st. Pennies and bills are positive points while silver coins are negative points! We are raising funds to purchase a school wide Gimkit License for next year!
