1st graders are learning all about plants! By the end of our unit, they will be able to name plant parts and tell what the job of each part is. Students will be able to tell how plants have special features in order to help them survive and grow in different climates. They will also be able to share how parent plants and the seedlings are alike and different.
1S has been growing different kinds of plants to see the different parts, compare and determine what plants need to grow. They've watched to see if the seeds in the dark are able to grow being planted in soil and given water, if a bean can grow without soil, and if a seed can grow in soil with sun and no water.
