Be Fit

With May right around the corner, it’s hard to believe the school year is drawing to a close. So many great things have happened in PE class this year! The students have worked on a variety of skills including fundamental moves, simple games, soccer, volleyball, basketball, jumping rope, hula hoops, tumbling, floor hockey, racquet skills, and track & field skills.

*The North Park Elementary Field Day will be held on May 4 (Thursday) from 1:00 – 3:00pm in the large, grassy area on the northside of the school. Parents are welcome to attend!

Body Trivia: How many breaths per minute does an average human take? About 20 per minute, or about 10 million per year!

Current/upcoming PE Units: track & field skills, base-related activities

With summer right around the corner, it will be important to stay active between now and the next school year. Our City Parks and Recreation Dept. offers a variety of activities and programs throughout the summer that can be viewed on their website: https://columbusne.us/DocumentCenter/View/5423/Parks-and-Rec-Summer-2023-Final?bidId=

As I mentioned in the April newsletter, our YMCA is also offering a variety of youth programs beginning in June. Take a look at their website for more information!  https://columbusy.org/news-events/

Have a great summer!
