Last day of Preschool at West Park will be May 17, 2019. Have a great summer!

Please note: The 4th grade students will be at Columbus Middle School all day on Wednesday, May 1st. Thank you

Monday West Park kicked off the 1st day of our Autism Awareness Spirit Week! Each class was assigned a color and then we formed a rainbow to represent and promote KINDNESS at our school!

WE REACHED OUR GOAL!
Thank you to our students and families and to our community donors.
By working together, we were able to surpass our goal and were able to order additional pieces for the Percussion Playground.
Our CPS Maintenance Department will be installing the equipment before the end of the school year and we will be having a ribbon cutting ceremony so you can see the equipment and celebrate with us.
Thank you for helping this dream become a reality. The playground will enrich West Park students and community visitors for years to come!

PowerSchool will be down for about an hour starting at 5 p.m. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you to the West Park staff, students, families & community for coming to our Waffleman event last night. You all have gone above & beyond in your support for West Park and the Percussion Playground. We had an excellent turn out!!!

The Waffleman will still be coming to West Park tonight. Belgian waffles, five flavors of syrup , whipped cream and sausage will be served from 5-7 p.m. Tickets are $8 and the proceeds will go to support fundraising for the Percussion Playground. The scheduled entertainment will also still be performing.

No school for Columbus Public School students today. Required staff are to report.

Students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade can now sign up for youth track. To download the forms go to https://5il.co/6sv6. For more information contact Patrick Clark at clarkp@discoverers.org

Our first graders enjoyed having retired West Park teacher Kathy Senior read to them. Each student received a copy of the book, Llama Llama and the Bully Goat . Thank you Elks Lodge & Columbus Area United Way.

....And the winner of our February Box Tops challenge is....1st Grade! Congratulations and great job to all classes for contributing!

The kindness challenge set forth from Mr. Clark is going strong at West Park. Our kindness chain is growing! It's almost halfway down our long hallway on both sides! Mrs. Lawrence even had some help from a student while hanging more links. Great job West Park Mustangs!!! #BeDiscovererKind #BeKind

Students will have a full day of school on Wednesday, Feb. 13th, with a 3:25 dismissal. There is no school for students on Thursday or Friday.

It's a new month for our BOX TOPS contest! Please remind students to look for Box Tops at home and bring to school! Let’s see how many Hearts we can put on the tree outside the nurse’s office! Every Box Top counts! Turn into Health office! This contest will go until Feb. 28th!

West Park staff members are participating in monthly challenges to stay healthy. We recently held a drawing in which members who participated in 2 or 3 of the monthly challenges could win a $10 Subway gift card. Staff members who participated in all the monthly challenges had a chance to win $25 toward something to help them maintain a healthy lifestyle (new sneakers, workout gear, weights, swim goggles, etc.) We want to be healthy role models for our students!

Parent/Teacher Conference notes will be coming home today, Feb. 4th. If the time assigned to you doesn't work, please call the school office to reschedule. 402-563-7075

Jeremiah Sirles visited West Park last week. He is a former Husker and currently is an Offensive Lineman for the Buffalo Bills. He spoke to the students about perseverance and how working hard now, will help them in the future. He also talked about how important teachers are to students and that they would do anything for their kids. Jeremiah ended the assembly by having the kids play a fun team building game.

Columbus Public Schools will remain open today with students being dismissed at the regular time. As in all inclement weather events, parents can choose to check out and pick up their children early. If another adult or sibling is picking up your child, you must please call the school to let them know who that person is.
