More than 100 students auditioned for the CMS musical Sister Act Jr. and applied for the crew this year. The CMS musical “Sister Act Jr.” has 47 cast members; 24 crew members; a student assistant and student choreographer. By the time “Sister Act Jr.” is done, the students will have put in 75 hours of rehearsal.
The cast and crew are both a combination of students from 6th-7th and 8th grade. The CMS musical is also in competition with other middle school musical productions across the state through the Nebraska High School/Middle school Theater Awards in Omaha.
The show will open March 12 and 13. Seats are reserved for families of the cast/crew and select personnel because of COVID restrictions. On March 19, Sister Act Jr can be streamed via the CPS Striv Channel. The play is available, with partnership from Columbus Community Hospital, on-demand from March 19-21.
Be on the look out for ways to purchase your digital ticket on our social media channels.
We hope our friends, teachers and other stakeholders will take part by watching the stream, and we look forward to bringing theater back to the community in person again soon.
Thank you to the Columbus After School Program, our many patrons, families, administration and staff for helping this musical become possible. The show is directed by Celeste Ditter, Renee Reiners and Amy Moore and choreographed by Kassie Neujahr.
