Singing Youth Honor

We had about 15 CMS kids and 11 CHS kids represented at the Singing Youth Honor choir last Saturday. On Saturday, January 27, 15 CMS 7th and 8th graders and 12 freshman from CHS attended the Singing Youth Honor Choir in Kearney.  These students prepared five rigorous pieces of music, rehearsed all day with their guest clinician, a doctor of music from Bethel University, and performed those pieces in a culminating concert.  The students were excellent leaders throughout the entire day, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements!

Vocal Tech is preparing for Nebraska A cappella championships.

On Friday, March 8, Vocal Tech will head to CHS to compete in the NAC.  We are preparing three challenging a capella pieces in hopes to inspire when we perform.  The students will also be in the running for best Middle School Ensemble, and best Middle School soloist.  Vocal Tech has 23 8th grade students, they rehearse during the school day.

Choir service Project record high

The 6th, 7th and 8th grade choir students at CMS raised almost $14,000 for charity back in December, 2023.  Their goal was around $5,000, so they more than exceeded that with their efforts! The students were able to provide gifts and needs for families in the Holiday Spirit Coop and donate the extra money to Water Wells For Africa.  The money we donated to Water Wells for Africa this year makes our total over the years to cover 3 water wells! And we are well on our way to a 4th water well.  This project encourages the CMS students to focus on leading a life of giving, both local and global.

Musical Peter Pan Jr

The CMS Musical Peter Pan Jr will be performed on Friday and Saturday, April 5 & 6, 2024 at 7:00 pm at the Nantkes Theatre.  The production team consists of 42 students in the cast, 20 students in the crew, two student assistants, three choreographers, three directors, and many parent volunteers.  The entire team is hard at work preparing for a fantastic night of adventure.  We hope this musical will inspire youth and adults alike to visit the places of their imagination and allow themselves to dream again.
