Columbus High students play dodgeball during their "Winter Informal," a night of activities hosted at CHS.

Each January the Columbus High School Student Council hosts the Winter Formal Dance.  For a number of years, the number of students attending the dance slowly declined.  With the help of sponsors, Ms. Val Wallin and Ms. Shannon McDonald, Student Council developed a plan to host a dance that students would want to attend.

Student Council re-branded the traditional Winter Formal Dance and coined the term Winter Informal.

It worked. This year over 400 students attended Winter Informal.

With the goal of giving students a safe, fun, and exciting experience, Winter Informal offered students a traditional dance and DJ in the auxiliary gym and games in the main gym that included ring toss, cornhole, spikeball, dizzy goggles, dodge ball, and laser tag.

Students that want a different experience could also enjoy a movie in the cafeteria. All students were eligible to win prizes at the end of the night.

CHS thanks Student Council, Ms. Wallin and Ms. McDonald, supervising staff members, and all of the students in attendance that made it a memorable night!
