Do you have a skill that you would like to show off to the world?  Consider participating in the CHS Variety Show which will be taking place on Tuesday, November 22nd in the CHS Concert Hall.  This event features dancing, singing, acting, instruments, songwriting, and any other skill that wishes to compete!  A $300 in cash will be given away to the winners of this event!  Students interested in participating in the Variety Show will need to submit a recording of their act by Tuesday, November 15.  Check with Mr. Ritter in the choir room or your building Google Classroom for more information.


10th graders interested in the HOBY need to bring a printed activity resume and essay to Ms. Seehusen by 4PM on Wednesday, November 16th, 2022.  The chosen 10th grader will be notified by the end of the month by Ms. Seehusen.


It's not too late to join the high school swim team. We will have an informational parent meeting at the aquatic center Thursday, November 10, at 7:00pm. If you have ever considered swim team or have questions, please reach out to Coach Dillon at dillona@discoverers.org.


Winter sports season starts on Nov. 14.  Any students interested in going out for a winter sport need to have the following completed before they are able to practice and compete:

1.  Physical completed and turned in

2.  Purchase a C-Stamp  

3.  Register and complete the required paperwork on SmartSchoolK-12

Are you skilled in math, science or both?  Do you enjoy competition?  If so, the Nebraska Science Bowl is for you.  If you are interested in competing, stop by room G115 and talk to Mr. Townsend by Friday, November 18th.


If you have an interest in STEM, the medical field, cooking/food service, cosmetics, or leadership; then SkillsUSA may be the right club for you! Another key piece of SkillsUSA is the development of the individual through a framework of personal, workplace, and technical skills to assist in your career readiness. For additional information, see Fisher Cyza, Mr. Loeffelholz, or Mr Nielson regarding all the opportunities SkillsUSA has to offer.

Tuesday, November 8

  • Students, on Tuesday, November 8, CHS will be a polling location for the Platte County General Election.  Hence on this date, the IMC will be closed for students and staff.  Parking will be reserved along the North side of the student parking lot so we ask that students not parked where the flags and cones are located.  Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Wednesday, November 9

  • Just a reminder that Wednesday, November 9, is a regular full day of school with a 3:40 pm dismissal. No school on Friday, November 11 for students. School will resume on Monday, November 14, with a 3:40 dismissal.
  • The CHS Competitive A Cappella Teams Baker's Dozen and Neptune's Angels will be holding tryouts on Wednesday, November 9th at 4pm in the choir room.  These groups go head-to-head against other vocal groups in exciting competitions across Nebraska and also give several performances in the Columbus area.  You do NOT NEED to be in a choir class to audition!  If you like to sing and compete, then these groups are the place for you!  More information about how to audition can be found in your building Google Classroom.

Friday, November 11

  • No school on Friday, November 11 for students. School will resume on Monday, November 14, with a 3:40 dismissal.
  • If you are interested in helping out with the high school live stream team, there will be a training time on Friday, November 11th, from 10 am-12 pm in the IMC. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Elijah Moser.

Saturday, November 12

  • Student Council is hosting another movie night this Saturday, November 12, at 7:00 p.m. in the auxiliary gym featuring both Top Gun and Top Gun Maverick. Admission for the double feature is $6 OR $5 with a can of food. Please bring your id and money for concessions. Hope to see you there!
