See below information regarding CHS parent-teacher conferences (September 28 & 29) along with the upcoming school schedule.

Parent-teacher conferences are being held: 

  • Wednesday, September 28, from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. 
  • Thursday, September 29 from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. 

We welcome your child to attend conferences with you.

Also, Wednesday, September 28, is a 3:40 p.m. dismissal time

Due to conferences, there is no school for students on:

  • Thursday, September 29
  • Friday, September 30

School will resume on Monday, October 3, with a regular day of classes. On Wednesday, October 5, we will be using the Wednesday bell schedule with a 2:35 p.m. dismissal time.

October 31 is a long time to prepare a speech on "Why is the Veteran Important".  Students interested in competing in the Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Competition should stop by the counseling office to pick up an application.  Grand prize is $30,000.   CHS has had several students win in the past - try your talent at a chance for money!!!





If you are bringing a non CHS student to the homecoming dance, you will need to complete the guest permission form. Currently, these forms are only available in the office from Ms. Maass. They are due no later than Friday, October 7.  Questions, please see Ms. Maass.  


For juniors and seniors that are serious about attending the Spring Close Up trip to Washington, DC, signed registration forms are due back to Mr. Coan by Monday, October 3rd. These forms must be returned in order to reserve your place on the trip. Contact Mr. Coan with any questions.




Junior & Sophomore students----The PSAT will be held at CHS on Saturday, October 15th, 2022 from 8AM-12PM.  It is an opportunity to practice test-taking skills and possibly qualify for a National Merit Scholarship.  Space is limited and the deadline to sign up for the PSAT is Thursday, October 6th, 2022.  There is no cost to students interested. Please come to the counseling office to sign up. Once your waiver is received you will be given a study guide. 



Educators Rising is a group of students interested in the field of education and service. Our next meeting is Wednesday, October 5th at 7:30 am.  If you are interested in being a member of Educators Rising but were not able to attend our kickoff meeting on Sept 7, please join the Educator's Rising Google Classroom with the code jht6ti4 and reach out to Ms. Seckel or Ms. Fleming. Meeting agendas and information regarding upcoming events will be posted in the Google Classroom. Members, be sure to check as there is information about the upcoming Fall Showcase in October.



Seniors:

  • The University of Nebraska's campuses will waive the undergraduate admissions application fee for Nebraska students from Sept. 16 through Sept. 30. 
  • When applying, students should select "fee waiver" and enter the code "NUforNE" to have the fee waived.

Monday, September 19

  • All new STRIVE tutors must report to the cafeteria during HR today, Monday, September 19.   Current STRIVE tutors who have been paired up with a tutee are to also report to the cafeteria like usual.
  • There will be a quick informational meeting for Mock Trial on Monday, September 19th, at 4:00PM in room H202.
  • Class of 2023-an email was sent to you with a Google form to fill out regarding how you want your name to appear on your diploma. Every senior in the Class of 2023 must fill this out by the end of the day on Monday, September 19th.

Tuesday, September 20

  • Any students interested in attending area math competitions this school year should plan to attend the informational meeting before school on Tuesday, September 20, at 7:40 in Ms. Pelc's room, F201. If you cannot attend, please contact Ms. Soltys or Ms. Pelc. 


Wednesday, September 21

  • If you would like to join FBLA, forms and money are due back to Ms. Tunink by September 21! Forms can be picked up from any Business classroom or Ms. Bastian.
  • Junior and Senior students interested in helping with Habitat for Humanity Campus Committee  need to attend a meeting in room F176 on Wednesday Sept 21 at 7:45 . Please email Sarah Lasso if you have any questions.

Thursday, September 22

  • There will be a FCCLA meeting Thursday, September 22nd at 7:45am and 3:45pm in Ms Jaixen's room. You only need to attend one of the meetings.
  • All new Student Ambassadors have a mandatory meeting in the cafeteria on Thursday, September 22, during HR.  Make sure to communicate your commitment with your HR teacher before the date of the meeting.

Friday, September 23

  • There will be a short informational meeting about Unified Bowling on Friday September 23rd at 7:45 am in the IMC.  Please contact Coach Eickhoff if you have any questions.
  • Seniors, class song and motto recommendations are due Friday, Sept. 23. Please send nominations, along with song lyrics, to Mrs. Wallin.
  • On Friday, September 23, CHS will dismiss at 12:00. The afternoon is set aside to prepare for parent/teacher conferences next week. This is on the CPS District Calendar and will also be in the announcements this week. There will be no lunch served that day.
Big picture
  • All students will have the opportunity to serve minutes on Friday, September 23 from 12:30 to 3:30 in the high school cafeteria.  Seniors, this is an extra opportunity to clear all rollover minutes.  The deadline to have rollover minutes cleared is September 28.
