The weight room will be open after school on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for open lifting from 3:45 to 4:45 pm during the months of December, January, February, and March.

  • Monday: No School
  • Tuesday: Soft Shell Beefy Tacos
  • Wednesday: Creamy Macaroni & Cheese with Dinner Roll
  • Thursday: Turkey & Gravy with Dinner Roll
  • Friday:  Toasted Cheese Sandwich with Creamy Tomato Soup



Attention, seniors who haven't ordered your graduation items from Jostens yet. Jostens is guaranteeing that items ordered by the end of February will arrive in time for May's graduation ceremony. Any items ordered after that may still arrive in time but may have a significant price increase in order to pay for expedited shipping costs. Please see Mrs. Wallin in the IMC if you need any assistance with the ordering process or need to pay with cash.


Students and Staff On February 21st, 22nd, 24th and 25th, the IMC WILL BE CLOSED for ELPA testing. The IMC must be a closed, private testing location that is not disturbed. Students will not be allowed to enter the IMC during testing for any reason. All IMC business will need to take place before or after school. Tech assistance will continue at the window.


Southeast Community College in Milford is having a John Deere Ag Tech Program Career Day on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.  AKRS Equipment would like to invite students who have a true interest in the John Deere Ag Tech program to join us for the event.  Sophomores through seniors are welcome to attend   You will need to provide your own transportation.  Students can contact their counselor for the link to register.



Are you interested in writing for your CHS newspaper?  CHS Anchor News is looking for a few motivated individuals to help tell the story of Columbus High School through articles, videos, and social media.  If that sounds like your cup of tea, please send a politely worded email to Mr. McDonald requesting an application.  Applications are due 2/22/2022.

Auditions for the CHS Captain's Chorale, formerly known as the CHS Concert Choir, are taking place this week. Students can audition online or in person. Please email or stop down to talk to Mr. Ritter for more information or to request the audition materials. Sophomores, if you are looking to add leadership skills to your activity resume, this announcement is for you. Youth Leadership Columbus is an interactive high school leadership development program created to recognize, educate, and empower future leaders who are dedicated to improving the quality of life in the Columbus area. If you are interested to be part of the Youth Leadership Columbus CHS team for the 2022-2023 school year or have any questions, please talk to Mrs. Marino.




There will be an informational meeting for all boys going out for track and field this spring on Tuesday February 22nd. This meeting will take place after school in room G231. If you cannot attend the meeting, please contact Coach Bethune for information.




Tuesday, February 15

  • Students if you are interested in designing the Columbus Public School Be-Kind T-shirt this year, please stop by and pick up a registration form from the CHS Art Department or the front office.  The deadline for design submissions is February 15.
  • There will be a Girls Track meeting on February 15 for all girls interested in going out for track at 7:45 AM OR 3:45 PM in Mr. Bills's room (F173). Please try your best to make either the morning or afternoon meeting. If you can't make either meeting, please contact Coach Kreikemeier at kreikemeierj@discoverers.org.
  • The winter activities pep rally to celebrate student and staff accomplishments will be held on Tuesday, February 15, from 10:00-10:32am. At the conclusion of second period, students should go directly to the main gym. Students will sit in their assigned grade levels. At the conclusion of the pep rally, students will go to their third period class. Parents and guests who would like to attend the pep rally, may arrive at 9:45 a.m. and sit on the southeast side of the gym.
  • The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will have a representative here during all lunch periods Tuesday, February 15th. Please stop by their table during lunch and find out what UNL has to offer.
  • Do you want the opportunity to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge? On Sunday, February 27, a dodgeball tournament will be hosted here at CHS beginning at 1:00. If interested in this tournament, please gather a team of 8. Teams can consist of all boys, all girls, or a mixture of both. Each team needs to send a captain to the IMC immediately after school on February 15 to meet with Ellie Thompson for more information.

Wednesday, February 16

  • Boys interested in going out for golf this spring, need to attend an informational meeting Wednesday, Feb 16,  immediately after school, in room G223 (Coach Robertson's room).  If you are unable to attend please stop and talk with Coach Robertson before or after school.

Thursday, February 17

  • All boys planning to tryout for the high school baseball team please attend a short meeting on Thursday, February 17. This meeting is in coach Johnson's room, F214 from 3:45 - 4:00.
  • Thursday, February 17th a representative from the University of Nebraska-Omaha will be in the cafeteria during all lunch periods. Please stop by their table during lunch and learn what UNO can offer you.
  • JAG Students do NOT need to report to the IMC during Homeroom today, the Mock Interview follow up session has been postponed. Thank you!
  • Sophomores: Thursday, February 17, Josten's will be presenting on Class Rings in the Concert Hall during home room. Please go to the concert hall after period 2 and sit with your homeroom teacher.
