The weight room will be open after school on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for open lifting from 3:45 to 4:45 pm during the months of December, January, February, and March.

Attention sophomores! Another leadership opportunity is available for you. Nebraska Leadership Seminar cultivates young leaders of Nebraska in an atmosphere of personal discovery and skills development. If you are interested in finding out more information about the NLS and how it can impact your leadership skills, visit the website at nebraskaleadership.org and email Mrs. Brown at brownv@discoverers.org.


Boys & Girls State Opportunity--Junior students interested in participating in the Boys and Girls State, if you want to be part of it or need more details, please contact Mrs. Marino as soon as possible.


The 2025 Cohort, this year's freshmen will all meet in the CHS auditorium during Homeroom on Monday, January 24th for their registration informational presentation. All current 9th graders and all 9th grade HR teachers need to go directly to the auditorium at that time.


Students interested in careers in transportation should check out the post in the College & Career Google classroom to register to attend an event on February 16th hosted by Southeast Community College.

If you are interested in a cosmetology career, please stop by Ms. Seehusen's office and pick up a permission slip to visit College of Hair Design this semester. This opportunity is for any 9th-12th grader who is interested.


SENIORS who plan to attend CCC next fall are encouraged to apply for a scholarship worth up to $1000. Stop by or email Mrs. Loeffelholz for an application. The due date for the application is Monday, January 24th.



Monday, January 17

  • Last Call for SkillsUSA. Anyone interested in joining SkillsUSA should plan on attending a meeting on Monday, January 17, at 6:30 p.m. in Mr. Dodson's room H111. Registration and dues of $20.00 will also take place at that time.  In addition, we will begin registering for the State Skills and Leadership Conference in Grand Island April 7th-9th.   If for some reason you cannot attend, please see Mr. Dodson before Monday so we can make arrangements.

Tuesday, January 18

  • Art Club is canceled this week: Tuesday, 1/18 & Thursday, 1/20
  • Over the last two days, Columbus High School has had an illness rate of over 8%. The CPS illness plan states that if the number of students ill over a three-day period is at or above 8% we will be in a mask mandate for three weeks. Although we do not have our numbers for today, if the number of CHS students ill is at or above 8% today, CHS will move to a mask mandate for three weeks starting tomorrow. More information will be shared as it becomes available.

Wednesday, January 19

  • The Columbus Community hospital is giving CHS students the opportunity to learn about, see and experience the new cutting edge surgical da VinciĀ® Robot through simulation and interactive demonstration.  The tour will be on Thursday, January 27 from 4:30 to 6:00 at the hospital.   Refreshments will be provided.  Space is limited so you must sign up by January 19th to attend.  Sign ups will be first come first serve.  Sign up by contacting Ms. Wickens in room G-114. This has event has filled up and no longer taking applications.

Thursday, January 20

  • Art Club is canceled this week: Tuesday, 1/18 & Thursday, 1/20
  • Just a reminder that all registration forms for dual-credit courses are due to the counseling office by Thursday, January 20th. If you aren't sure if you are registered for a class, go into your CANVAS account with CCC to see what classes show as being registered. Any questions can be directed to your counselor or Mrs. Loeffelholz in the counseling office.
  • Anyone interested in playing girls soccer this spring, there will be an informational meeting this Thursday, January 20th at 7:45AM in room G138. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Coach Wayman.
  • Jimmy Johnson's homeroom will meet in the cafeteria today with Mr. Hiebner. Thank you.

Friday, January 21

  • No School
  • If you are bringing a non CHS student to the winter dance, you will need to complete the guest permission form. These forms are available in the office from Ms. Maass, or you may download the form from the website or the link in the bulletin. They are due no later than Friday, January 21. Questions, please see Ms. Maass.  Winter Dance Form    Due to no school on Friday, these forms will be accepted up till noon on Monday, January, 24th.

  • The theme for Saturday's basketball games on January 22nd is safari/zoo day. Come and support your fellow students.
