The start of the winter sports season is Nov. 15. All athletes planning to participate on the first day need to complete these 3 steps.  


1. Register for their sport/activity on SmartSchool-K12   

2. Turn in a physical to the activities desk  

3. Purchase a C-stamp at the activities desk

National Honor Society will be hosting a blood drive next Wednesday, November 10th from 8:30-2:30 in the Auxiliary Gym.  Anyone ages 17 and older is eligible to donate, but 17 year olds will need a signed permission form.  If you are interested in donating,  feel free to email Ms. Field or Ms. Soltys.



National Honor Society would like to congratulate the October Staff Member of the Month:  Ms. Valerie Wallin.  She was given this honor for her dedication to all students and staff at CHS.  If you see her, please congratulate her on this honor.



Columbus High School will host its Winter Sports Parents Night meeting Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Concert Hall.


All parents who have students that want to participate in basketball, bowling, swimming, wrestling, or Unified bowling are encouraged to attend. This includes parents of Scotus Central Catholic students who are planning to swim at CHS. Students are welcome to attend, but it is not a requirement.


Activities Director Tim Kwapnioski will have a short address, followed by comments from the CHS Booster Club and Athletic Trainer Rob Marshall. Parents will then go to meetings with their sport-specific coaches.


As some of you may have noticed, plastic and aluminum recycling bins have been placed around the school. Student Council and FBLA have partnered to create a program to collect plastic bottles and aluminum cans. Please feel free to take advantage of this opportunity to recycle.



Attention Seniors: Please fill out the Diploma Name form in your Google Counseling Classroom as soon as possible. Parent letters will be mailed home with your decision by November 24th.



Juniors and seniors please listen carefully:

CCC will be here next Thursday and Friday, November 18 and 19, to answer questions and help you get registered for your spring dual-credit classes.  Please use the link found in your counseling google classroom to sign up so you are not counted absent during homeroom.  

Seniors will report to the cafeteria on Thursday and Juniors are to report to the cafeteria on Friday.  

Only those students planning to take a course for dual-credit or have questions for CCC representatives are to sign up to attend.



No school for students on Monday, November 15th, to allow for additional professional learning, teacher and/or staff work time, or time for teachers to consult with parents/caregivers. School will resume on Tuesday, November 16th, with a regular day.



Attention, all students. Have you been looking for something fun to do on a Friday night? Do you like scary movies? If so, Student Council has an event for you! Student Council is sponsoring a movie night on Friday, November 19. We will be showing Lights Out in the auxiliary gym beginning at 8:00; tickets will be purchased at the door beginning at 7:30. You will need your school id to purchase a ticket. Admission to this event is $3 OR $2 plus a can of food to help stock our local food pantry. The concession stand will be open, so no outside food or drink is allowed. We hope to see you there!


Educators Rising and FBLA are doing a Canned Food Drive November 1 to November 12. It will be a competition between homeroom classes. The winning homeroom will receive prizes. Each time you bring in a canned food item, your name will be entered in a drawing for a bigger prize. Drop off your canned food items before school in the cafeteria.


Tuesday, November 9

  • Coach Keiswetter will have a meeting Tuesday, Nov 9th, for any boys who plan on wrestling this season. Please meet in room A117 at 3:45pm. This meeting will be brief and if you cannot make it, please contact Coach Keiswetter.

Thursday, November 11

  • There will be a girls track meeting for any girls interested in track on Thursday, November 11, after school at 3:45pm in Mr. Bills room F173.  If you are unable to attend, please contact Coach Kreikemeier at kreikemeierj@discoverers.org.


Friday, November 12

  • If you have not received your permanent student ID, please see Ms. Uchtman in the Counseling Office by Friday, November 12.
  • The 2021 CHS Variety Show will be happening on Friday, November 12th, at 7:00pm in the Concert Hall. It will feature 11 acts, including singing, dancing, songwriting, instruments, acting, The CHS Diamond Dancers, The CHS New World Singers, CHS Staff Members singing a song, and so much more! In addition, the audience will have a chance to vote for their favorite acts at the end of the night and be a part of picking the winner! Bring your whole family for a night of fun and excitement!
