Students to Teachers through Education Pathways

Columbus High School prides itself on offering high level educational opportunities to students.  During the 2020-21 school year, over 380 CHS students earned college credits through Central Community College and over 25 CHS students earned college credits through Nebraska Wesleyan University.  These dual credit opportunities give CHS students the opportunity to earn college credit at a reduced cost and allows these students to gain a head start on their college career.

This year, CHS will be offering a new dual credit opportunity to students that want to explore teaching as a possible career.  Through the Wayne State College STEP program (Students to Teachers through Education Pathways) CHS is offering three classes.  The dual credit opportunity includes Introduction to Professional Education, Human Development and Cognition, and PK-12 Instructional Design.  Each course will earn students three college credits and will give students who plan to enter the field of teaching a head start on their educational program.  CHS is excited to have Mr. Steven Woodside, former CHS principal, as the instructor for these courses.  He will bring a wealth of knowledge to our students and give them a first rate opportunity as they begin their educational journey.
