spanish competition

After being unable to host the statewide Spanish competition last year, Mrs. Liliana Velasco worked with CHS administrators to find a solution for 2021.  Nearly 150 students from 15 schools competed in this annual event virtually this year.

Students in Spanish 3 and up were able to participate in competitive events such as poetry, music, drama, art and folk dance.  Each  event will be divided in two levels; Level 2 (for Non heritage speakers) and Level HS (for Heritage Speakers).  All events required participating students to submit a video following the specifications for each event.

This year's judges consisted of members from the Latino Commission for the State of Nebraska,  the National Center for Families Learning in Omaha and Centro Hispano in Columbus among others. Judges include Torree Hemostead, Madison Keep, Cheryl Deal, Roger Garcia, Lazaro Spindola, Jaqueline Cruz, Leslie  Perez,  Emily Brewer, MAriano Menendez, Jaime Stodola, Cindy Campbell, Karina Lopez, Hannah Van Horn, Nancy Lopez and Katherine Lopez.

Pictures and videos are available upon request.
