COLUMBUS, NE - On Friday, January 17, 2025 members of the Columbus High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter showcased their skills and leadership at the District STAR Event Competition held at Schuyler Central High School.
Four students from CHS competed in four different Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) events demonstrating their dedication to developing leadership skills, career preparation and making a positive impact on their communities.
CHS FCCLA Chapter Adviser, Amanda Nielsen, praised the students for their hard work and commitment: "Our members have worked tirelessly to prepare for these events and their success reflects their passion and dedication to creating a better future for themselves and their communities."
Medalists and qualifiers from the competition include:
Aliah Alas, competing in Focus on Children, earned a silver medal and qualified for state.
Mya Davis, competing in Teaching Strategies, earned a silver medal and qualified for state.
Ashley De La Cruz-Martin, competing in
Public Policy Advocate
, earned a silver medal and qualified for state.
Cloee Davis, competing in Sustainability Challenge, earned a bronze medal.
The state qualifiers are now preparing to compete at the Nebraska FCCLA State STAR Event Competition, which will take place on Monday, April 7, 2025 in Lincoln, NE. Their achievements at the district level have set the stage for even greater accomplishments in the months to come.
