There's still time for juniors and seniors to sign up for the Close Up trip to Washington, DC in March of 2024. Reach out to Mr. Coan or Ms. Lenser for information about signing up. Interested students should return sign up sheets to Mr. Coan in G137 by Friday, October 20, 2023.


Are you interested in a career in the military? Do you need assistance in finding a career that is just for you?  If you are in 10th, 11th, or 12th grades, then this announcement is for you!

On the morning of October 24th, the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, otherwise referred to as the ASVAB test will be given in the IMC from 8:30-10:55 am. This test is the most widely used aptitude test that measures your strengths, weaknesses, and potential for future success. The ASVAB just doesn't tell you what you are currently good at, it will also tell you what you may be good at learning. If you are serious about joining the military or want to find a career that fits you, then you need to get serious about the ASVAB! 

To sign up to take the ASVAB test on October 24th  please stop by the school counseling office and sign up with Ms. Uchtman or Ms. Villanueva by Friday, October 20th.


Picture retake day is on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, beginning at 2:45pm in the IMC till all students have had their photos taken.  If you are doing retakes, please remember to bring back your original picture packet and give it to the photographer.  If you are a new student or did not have your photo taken the first time the photographer was here, you will need to have your photo taken.  You may order and pay online at the studio's website prior to having your photo taken. The new order code sheet that can be picked up in the main office. 


HOBY is a state leadership seminar for current 10th graders. HOBY's purpose is to empower students to develop leadership talents. CHS will sponsor one 10th grade student to attend this year's event.  You must attend the seminar in early June. The application is due October 31st. See or email Ms. Seehusan for additional information.

Wednesday, October 18, 2023

  • School schedule for this week. Wednesday, October 18, will be a full regular day of school with a 3:40pm dismissal. Thursday, October 19, will be a full day of school with a 3:40pm dismissal. No school for students on Friday, October 20.
  • Staff and students: On Wednesday, October 18, wear your favorite college or military shirt to celebrate our seniors' APPLY2COLLEGE event happening!
  • Seniors: Jostens will be here on Wednesday, October 18 at noon in the auditorium to speak about announcements, caps and gowns, and senior gear.  The presentation will be approximately 20 minutes and seniors will be dismissed to their 4th period after the presentation is completed.



Thursday, October 19, 2023

  • Thursday, October 19, will be a full day of school with a 3:40pm dismissal. No school for students on Friday, October 20.
  • The IMC will be closed for grade 10 health screenings on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
  • Attention, seniors. You can find information from yesterday's Jostens' meeting (October 18, 2023) in your building Google classroom by the end of today. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Wallin.
  • There will be a girls' track meeting for only the girls that participated in track last year on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 7:45 AM.  Please meet in the Auxiliary Gym. We will be handing out awards that weren't available at the end of last year's season along with some info for the upcoming track season. 

Friday, October 20, 2023

  • No school for students on Friday, October 20.
  • Attention ALL Seniors:
    On Friday, October 20, any student who serves time from 8:30 to 3:30 pm will receive credit for double time. Any senior who owes more than three hours will lose senior release until minutes are cleared.  If you owe time in December, you will not be allowed to have a senior release in the second semester. All first semester minutes must be cleared before we leave for Christmas break. If you have senior release and owe time, it is expected to clear those minutes during senior release. If you continue to not show up to 1st period or leave early during 6th and 7th or just 7th period, 50 minutes of time per period will be assigned to your current minute status. Please be responsible and get your minutes cleared immediately. An email with your time owed is sent daily automatically from Ms. Hornbeck's email.  If you have questions, please ask Ms. Leifeld. 
    • In addition, grades 9, 10, and 11 are welcome to serve detention time on Friday, October 20 also.
