Jordan Hitchcock has been hired as the new boys basketball coach at Columbus High School. Coach Hitchcock takes over for Jimmy Motz who after five years resigned to take the head boys basketball position at Norris.
Hitchcock started his coaching career at the University of Nebraska as a graduate assistant manager. Under Doc Sadler and Tim Miles, Coach Hitchcock assisted the staff with scouting and film preparation, lead red-shirt skill development workouts, and facilitated recruitment experiences. In 2016 Hitchcock took the head basketball position at Parkview Christian and led the Patriots to the state basketball tournament. In 2018 he joined the staff at Lincoln Northeast as the JV coach and lead varsity assistant.
“We had a quality candidate pool, and to have Coach Hitchcock emerge as our next head coach is a testament to the vision he has to continue to build our program,” Director of Athletics and Activities Tim Kwapnioski said. “Discoverer basketball has a rich tradition of success, and we have selected a coach that we are extremely excited about.”
Hitchcock will be teaching in the Social Science Department at CHS.
