On Monday, December 18, 2023, the Columbus Public Schools Board of Education officially accepted the intent to not return the letter from Dr. Troy Loeffelholz as he will retire as the superintendent as of June 30, 2024. "We're happy for Troy, and yet we're sad for ourselves to see him go," commented CPS Board of Education President Doug Willoughby. "He has been such an asset to CPS and the greater community of Columbus. The search for a new superintendent will begin now. We want to move ahead quickly and engage staff, students, parents, and the greater community in this process as we determine the future direction of Columbus Public Schools."
The school board voted to begin the request for proposal (RFP) process to hire an outside agency to assist the school district in the search.
