Press Release - October 13, 2020
Re: No in-person School on November 3, 2020
November 3, 2020 is election day across the nation. Columbus Public School sites do host voting precincts. Due to the nature of the public coming in and out of our facilities, all buildings will be closed that day. Students will not report to their school building that day, but will take part in remote learning. Students will be able to receive their breakfast and lunch for this day but must sign up to receive it.
How to receive a FREE lunch and breakfast for November 3rd:
Students must sign up at their school on October 28th.
On November 2nd at the end of the school day students will pick up their meals.
**Specific details will come from your building principal regarding sign up and pick up.
Our current policy and protocols do not allow visitors to our building unless by appointment only. Closing of our facilities will allow us to keep our students and staff safe and isolated from visitors who come into our schools and allow our maintenance and custodial staff to disinfect areas where the general public have occupied the facilities.
We are letting parents know well in advance to prepare for their students to be at home. Students and staff will use this day as a “REMOTE” Learning day for all students. On November 3rd our students will be required to be engaged with their teacher via digital resources. This is a great opportunity to practice our on-line/remote learning should the district have to switch to their Tier 4 Model in the future. More information will be coming in the days ahead from your student’s building principal.
Again, this remote learning day is for one day, November 3, 2020. We expect all students and staff to be in attendance on site November 4, 2020.
